ORIGIN

NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) is a United States government agency that is responsible for the country's civilian space program and for conducting research in various fields of aerospace technology.

NASA was established on July 29, 1958, by the National Aeronautics and Space Act signed by President Dwight D. Eisenhower. Its creation was in response to the Soviet Union's launch of Sputnik, the world's first artificial satellite, in 1957, which had ignited the space race between the U.S. and the Soviet Union.

NASA's primary mission is to explore space, conduct scientific research, and develop technology to support human space exploration. Over the years, NASA has achieved many significant milestones, including the Apollo Moon landing program, the Space Shuttle program, and the International Space Station.

NASA also collaborates with other countries and space agencies around the world on various missions and projects, such as the Mars Exploration Program, the James Webb Space Telescope, and the Artemis program, which aims to return humans to the Moon and pave the way for future crewed missions to Mars.
